We picked up on a report of an attack on the offices of the Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe premises in Harare.
Apparently this happened around 11am on Thursday when five men wielding hammers forcibly entered the premises. One of the men apparently acted like a mentally challenged person and threatened security personnel with a hammer.
They rounded up all the staff and board members and locked them in the Guard Room while they ransacked the place.
Police arrived at the scene and took the men away to Harare Central Police Station. GALZ says it is not taking the incident as a random act but as actions under orders
The men were constantly making communication with an individual addressed as “Machacha” of an unknown “security wing” over the phone.
One might not agree with the gay and lesbian lifestyle, or even think it isn’t right but that doesn’t mean they should go about physically or emotionally abusing them. We are glad that the situation did not escalate into something far worse than it was.
It is all about that right to life business.
