Zimbabwe’s environment minister Oppah Muchinguri has told the world that we want to have Cecil The Lion’s killer Walter Palmer extradited.
It is a statement of greater proportion that most people realise.
Zimbabwe has an extradition agreement with the United States of America dating back to the year 2000. It was actually agreed on 1997.
The key is that it has to be a crime in both countries for the extradition to happen. It is.
Zimbabwe now has declared that it will start processes for Palmer to be sent over to face trial.

Our truth about Cecil The Lion
This is key. For a country that has accused Zimbabwe of flouting rule of law it is a test for America to follow bilateral agreements.
If they do not send Palmer over, then in reality it will be in violation of an attempt to apply the rule of law in Zimbabwe, where an American national came to the country and committed a crime.
The extradition agreement is not conditional, so they might be able to stall it but the ball is in their court. If they don’t do it then diplomatically it is a win for Zimbabwe.
Over to you America.
