Two beverages, Dragon and Twizza have been banned from Zimbabwe with immediate effect.
According to the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare permanent secretary Dr Gerald Gwinji, the two beverages contain artificial flavourings not indicated as ingredients.
Dr Gwinji has directed that both beverages be taken off shelves immediately after the thumbs-down on health standards. Importation of both drinks will no longer be permitted.
All very well and good but how did they get into the country in the first place. It’s not like they were only being sold under the cover of darkness. They were in shops though.
The question becomes, what else is being sold in shops which means that, we think and poorly assume, that their distribution is above board.
Bad form government, bad form.
