Times are tough, but we’re not shutting down water over chemicals – Harare City

Harare City Council has sent out a statement after rumours that in 24 hours, it would have to shut down water supply to everyone as it had no chemicals for treatment.

Court says water disconnections are illegal

They accepted that there were challenges but they are working with what they have:

Harare City Council has noted with concern reports that there will be no water in the city. Admittedly we having been having challenges in stocking water treatment chemical due to the unavailability of foreign currency. We would like to assure residents that we have enough chemicals to last us until we receive bulk consignments procured in South Africa. Council will continue to treat and supplies albeit in reduced quantities so as to stretch the available resources. We are working with our suppliers to stabilize the situation.

So there you have it.
