Stricter lockdown restrictions announced for Kariba, Makonde and Hurungwe

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has imposed a hard lockdown measures in Makonde, Hurungwe and Kariba Districts.

This follows an increasing number of cases in Mashonaland West.

Two senior government officials in the province are said to have died from Covid-19 on Thursday. In Chinhoyi, a test of 15 people, yielded 15 positive results.

Furthermore, an outbreak in Zambia has put Kariba at risk.

TIGHTER LOCKDOWN MEASURES IN MAKONDE, HURUNGWE & KARIBA DISTRICTS

  • Curfew from 1800 to 0600
  • Entry or exit into these districts prohibit except for essential services
  • Shops and business open from 0800 to 1500
  • Public transport to carry half capacity
  • Bottle stores to open from 1000 to 1500
  • No face to face meetings
  • No loitering in public places
  • Room service in hotels and lodges
  • Restaurants to serve only takeaway
  • Offices to decongest to 25% except for essential services

The measures are with immediate effect.
