South Africa has announced that it will close 20 land border posts including the Beitbridge until 15 February 2021.
In a statement, SA president Cyril Ramapahosa said:
These include the six busiest border posts, which are Beitbridge, Lebombo, Maseru Bridge, Oshoek, Ficksburg and Kopfontein will have limited services until 15 February 2021.
Limited services will be offered at these border posts.
People will be allowed to cross borders in limited circumstances such as transportation of fuel, cargo and goods, emergency medical attention, return of South African residents, departure of of foreign diplomats, and daily commuters from neighbouring countries to attend school in SA.
South Africa has registered 4.600 deaths of people with Covid-19.
