SA adjusts curfew, expands alcohols sale, to open international travel

South African president Cyril Ramaphosa has announced changes to level 1 lockdown and relaxation of conditions.

First, the curfew has been changed to midnight to 4am in the morning.

Alcohol will now be sold Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

South Africa will gradually and cautiously ease restrictions on international travel. It will be allowing travel into and out of South Africa for business, leisure and other travel with effect from 1 October 2020. Only King Shaka, OR Tambo and Cape Town airports will be open to international flights. Travel will be restricted to and from come countries seen as high risk. Travelers must have a Covid-19 negative certificate of a test taken within 72 hours before travel. They will he screened on arrival and those exhibiting symptoms will be quarantined.

Social, religious and other gatherings will be allowed from Monday 21 September 2020. Indoor maximum capacity is 250 and external 500. A venue cannot have more than 50 percent capacity. 100 people may attend a funerals but no night vigils.
