SA: 93.8% Of Zimbabwe Special Permits Approved

South Africa has released information on the latest developments in the Zimbabwe Special Permits process.

South Africa Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba made the revelations on Monday.

Key figures are that 198,032 ZSP applications were made for for adjudication. So far 99.7% (197,303) have been adjudicated. 729 are still to be adjudicated.

93.8% (185,705) have been approved of which 161,677 have been dispatched. Of that lot 64.9% or 128317 have been collected. Those will not be collected by 30 September 2015 will be returned to the Department of Home Affairs.

6,2% or 12,228 applications have been rejected.

Much of the work remaining is administrative, involving printing and dispatch of outstanding ZSP certificates.

The permit expires on 31 December 2017. After that Zimbabweans will have to apply for the regular visa.
