Must be awkward over there at there at the Prosecutor-General’s office.
Zimbabwe’s president Robert Mugabe has castigated (Judith Makwanya accent) child marriages saying girls should not be seen as ripe for marriage because of their physical appearance.
President Mugabe was speaking at the opening of the Children’s Parliament on Saturday.
He added his dismay at the rise in child prostitution and early marriage due to poverty.
He also spoke about the state’s obligation to protect children’s rights.
The whole country was pretty pissed off yesterday when PG Johannes Tomana seemed to suggest little girls as young as 12 could consent.
Constitutionally the PG’s office is independent off government but you know that it is feeling hot under the collar over there right.
