President Mugabe calls for forgiveness among his party members

President Robert Mugabe spoke to Zimbabwe for the first time since the military operations last week.

In a 20 minute speech said he acknowledged the reasons why the action was taken adding that it was never a challenge to his authority as president and commander in chief.

Mugabe said he would be presiding over the Zanu-pf extraordinary congress in December where issues in the party would be settled.

The president also noted the events that saw thousands march and a central committee meeting that fired him and expelled many others saying that his party members needed to forgive and forget to move forward.

With today’s meeting threatening impeachment if Mugabe does not resign it potentially sets up an interesting next couple of days.
