South Africa paralympic star Oscar Pistorious has been granted bail.
Chief Magistrate Desmond Nair, also said that Oscar Pistorious will now be effectively charged with premeditated murder even though the state’s case is circumstantial. So Schedule 6 stands.
Nair said Pistorious was not a flight risk and does not show a propensity to violence.
As part of bail conditions, he is to pay R1,000,000 and is banned from taking alcohol and drugs. He is not allowed to go to an airport. The matter has been postponed to 4 June.
The case is probably the first Twitter soap opera. The long ruling was punctuated by a break by Nair which did not impress the public which was hanging onto every word.
