Incumbent Edgar Lungu has been re-elected as the president of Zambia after garnering 50.35% of votes in Thursday’s elections.
His main rival, Hakainde Hichilema, who alleges electoral fraud, got 47.67%.
His party, the UPND is accusing the electoral commission of colluding with the Lungu’s party Patriotic Front (PF).
Small pockets of PF supporters were spotted by our corresponded Lee Moyo in Lusaka as they made their way to celebrate the triumph.
Lungu became president in 2015 after winning an election following the death of Michael Sata.
