Oscar Pistorious was brought before a court on Friday over the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
An application for bail hearing has been postponed until Tuesday. He will be kept at Brooklyn Police Station until Tuesday.
Eerily for Pistorious, magistrate Desmond Nair used the phrase “a person charged with premeditated murder” in his reference. An emotional Pistorious sobbed through sections of the proceedings.
Social media has been critical of what has been seen as preferential treatment of Pistorious.
Pistorius arrived at Pretoria magistrates court in a police vehicle, sitting in the backseat rather than the unpleasant holding section for prisoners. He pressed a dark jacket and A4 notepad to the window to avoid chasing photographers.
Also media outlet News24 has come under heavy criticism for shutting down the comments section of its site.
Pistorious fired 9 shots. Steenkamp was hit twice in the head and twice on the arm.
