November exams to go ahead as planned – government

The government says Zimbabwe school exams for the month of November will go ahead as planned.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said this after the cabinet decision matrix:

Cabinet notes that schools are continuing with their preparations for the re-opening of schools for final examination classes. The developed and approved guidelines that were put in place for the June 2020 examinations will be used for the holding of the final examinations in November-December.

Mutsvangwa also said education ministry was working flat out to make sure the environment was safe for exams to take place.

The announcement comes on the back of students having only seen one term of school this year. The assumption made the government seems to be that the students had online classes in order to prepare which surely creates the real risk of a low pass rate coming.
