Zimbabwe’s Meteorological Services Department has moved to quell rumours of floods in the country this week.

In a statement released to media, the department said:

The MSD has read communication on social media warning of flooding in the eastern districts of Zimbabwe and wishes to dispel the contents of the communique making the rounds on social media.

While the MSD emphasises the existence of mainly cool to mild weather with light drizzle/rain in the area of interest throughout the period 18 -21/04/2022, we would be updating all stakeholders of any interesting phenomena that may develop in our country.

It is important for all stakeholders to understand that MSD is the designated authority in climate and weather forecast. MSD therefore pleads with/for users of the meteorological information to verify with our specialist practitioners before sharing unauthenticated materials that may send communities into panic.

So nothing to see here, they said.
