President Robert Mugabe left Zimbabwe for Singapore on Tuesday for a routine medical checkup state media reports.
State radio said he would be away until the weekend.
The 89 year-old Mugabe has routinely traveled to the Far East for regular checks one of which because the length of his absence resulted in widespread speculation about his health.
Mugabe will stand for election against Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai in elections this year.
