Model Gamu Maziva and her boyfriend Nyasha Maridadi were set free yesterday after the state failed to provide enough evidence to justify their remand.
The pair had been last year accused of terminating a pregnancy and then burning the foetus.
The state’s case seems to have hit a snag after the courts threw out an application to have Maziva tested to prove she had not had an abortion.
The whole affair resulted in the beauty missing out on the 2012 Face of Zimbabwe finals for which she was the February title holder.
If the state should wish to proceed with an actual trial, it will have to provide reasonable evidence.
