Met department forecasts prolonged dry spell

The Meteorological Services Department of Zimbabwe (MSD) has sent out an advisory with a prolonged dry spell forecast for at least two weeks.

Reduced rainfall is expected from Friday 19 January until 2 February 2024. The whole country will be affected except the extreme northern parts.

While there may be localised heavy rain and thunderstorms on Thurday 19 Janiuary, mostly hot and sunny conditions will take over, especially from 21 January.

For farmers, the MSD advises farming activities which do not require rainfall, such as application of pesticides and fertilisers.

And it is good news for Hararians as the current tour by the Ireland Women’s cricket team runs until 2 February.

If that is not your thing, it might be a good time to go hiking.
