In what looks like a bizarre show of power United Family International Church (UFIC) leader Emmanuel Makandiwa ordered that his followers to drop their offerings in front of him at his Sunday service.
He is reported on the Daily News as saying after the directive:
I will be the last to leave this place so I want you to show the world that you can part with everything that you have for God. Starting with foreigners, you will drop your gift on the altar, with the locals following.
Critics of his church will say that this shows that his prosperity gospel is more about money than it is about the word of God. The fact that he has to watch private contributions from people will not be a good look for him. They will state that it would appear as if he is carrying out an audit or that his presence will compel people to contribute more than they had planned to.
Still, his followers will say what he does was commanded by God.
Eh!
