LOCKDOWN UPDATE: Zimbabwe adjusts curfews, business hours, opens up most businesses

Zimbabwe president Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced adjustments to the current lockdown settings.

Mnangagwa says it is noteworthy that cases, deaths and hospitalisation has continued to decrease.

  1. The wearing of face masks, temperature check and washing of hands in public remains mandatory
  2. The curfew is adjusted and will now be from 10pm to 5.30am
    1. Letters are no longer required for movement
  3. Supermarkets can now remain open till 7pm
  4. Industry to open with strict national standards and World Health Organisation standards
  5. SMEs, food markets and the informal sector can reopen on condition they adhere to WHO and national standards
  6. Schools must prepare to open and put in place WHO measures compliance. Universities must also prepare to open
  7. Intercity can now resume. Bus operators must ensure disinfection of buses.
  8. Funeral gatherings cannot exceed 30 people. Other social gatherings limited to 50 people.
  9. Beerhalls, bars, nightclubs, gymnasiums remain closed
  10. Bottle stores can open for takeaway.
  11. Restaurants can open for takeaways. No sit-ins allowed.

More vaccines are coming and people will be inoculated. He said he is pleased with the response from people who are being vaccinated.

There is no indication of how long these current settings will run as no expiry date was announced.
