Kombi conductor stabbed in route dispute

A kerfuffle over kombi route has resulted in a tout sustaining knife injuries.

Shingirai Kamutambadziko (30) from Vherende village in Chief Makumbe area, Buhera was sentenced to twelve months imprisonment for attempted murder, according to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

The case

According to the state, onn the 24th of October 2023 at around 2100hours Chrispen Kangoma (31) who is a kombi conductor was engaging in his activities at Deverwi Business Centre in Rusape. He was offloading some goods in the company of three other men offloading

It was then that Kamutambadziko approached the four men accusing them complainant of monopolising the Deverwi-Rusape route, resulting what was first a verbal showdown.

While Kangoma was offloading a sack for a passenger from the kombi, the accused person punched him in the mouth and knocked him down before slashing his neck and lower lip with a knife.

He then fled from the scene before he was subsequently arrested.

Kangoma sustained a deep stab wound on the neck, a cut on his mouth, and a loose tooth.
