Kenya president William Ruto has said his government has resolved to abolish all visa requirements from any person across the globe wishing to visit the country.
“Beginning January 2024, Kenya will be a visa-free country. It shall no longer be necessary for any person from any corner of the globe to carry the burden of applying for a visa to come to Kenya,” said Ruto.
A digital platform will be used to identify people in advance.
Upon identification, travelers will receive automatic authorisation.
Kenya made news when it posted its intent to becoem the second African country to allow visa-free travel for those from the continent. Rwanda made the same announcement on 3 November 2024.
