Kenya Airways shuts down Jo’Burg, Kisumu offices in anticipation of protests

Major airline Kenya Airways has announced that it will shut down its Johannesburg (South Africa) and Kisumu (Kenya) offices in anticipation of protest action in the respective countries.

The protests are meant for Monday, 20 March, 2023, and now the airline saus the booking offices will not be available.

Their statement, released Sunday night, said, “All our other offices within our network including the airport offices in Johannesburg and Kisumu will be operational. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by the closure of the offices. The safety and wellbeing of our employees and customers are our highest priority.”

The South African protests are by the Economic Freedom Front (EFF) as part of their National Shutdown, calling for the resignation of President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Ramaphosa has deployed the army for the protests.

The Kenya demonstrations are by  Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga.
