Zengeza West legislator has been convicted of attempting to defeat the course of justice.
The Deputy National Chairman of the major opposition Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) party was found to have misdirected police when he said ruling party Zanu PF mobs killed the opposition activist Moreblessing Ali, who was abducted and later found dead.
He was acting as the family’s lawyer.
Sikhala’s trial took prominence because of the length of his pre-trial incarceration.
He is the second member of the CCC higher-ups to be convicted after the party’s national spokesperson was convicted of having lied about a child being killed at the hands of police. The child was found to have bee alive.
