IDs registration exercise for O, A Level exercise postponed

The Civil Registry Department has postponed an exercise to have all O and Level students getting Identification Cards, so as to register for the November 2021 exams.

The exercise which was to take place this weekend has been suddenly postponed, meaning Sunday’s expected push will not take place.

“As such, ALL Civil Registry Offices countrywide will be closed tommorow (sp), 27 June 2021,” the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage said.

The reason given is there being a risk of Covid-19 spreading during such an exercise. Cases have been rising over the last two weeks leading to, among other measures, the delay to second term schools opening and a soft lockdown.

There have even been fears that stricter measures, as currently seen in hotspots across the country, could be imposed in a blanket manner.
