Shrien Dewani, wanted by South Africa’s courts over the murder of his wife Anni will be extradited, a UK court has ruled.
London’s Westminster Magistrates’ Court said that it had faith in South African justice system and that Shrien should be sent over to face charges. The judge stated that Dewani’s mental health has improved, though it may be a while before he is fit to plead in a South African court. His risk of suicide is real but not immediate.
His reasons for attempting to have his extradition blocked particularly offended Africans.
Anni was shot dead on the outskirts of Cape Town in 2010 while the couple were on their honeymoon.
Three South African men have been jailed over the killing and have fingered Shrien. Shrien denies the killing.
