Harare Town House Has Electricity Cut Over Bill

Government rag The Herald  is reporting the Harare Town House has had its electricity cut off by the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority(ZESA) over an outstanding bill.

We hear that the figure is around $25 million. Yes, $25 million.

Just what period this electricity had not been paid is as yet unclear to us.

The Harare City Council itself is battling to get residents to pay huge outstanding bills. This may be the reason although we think if some of the money that has been used to buy new cars for some executives was used for paying the bill.

That said, you wonder if they will transfer that anger to the people who owe them money. They have started offering discounts to encourage payment and recently said they would no longer cut water.

Doesn’t ZESA owe the City Council money. Surely…
