Gumbura’s Judgement Set For Wednesday; Could He Walk?

The judgement in the case against rape-accused pastor Robert Martin Gumbura will take place on Wednesday in Harare.

Gumbura is accused of rape by 7 women and faces porn possession charges as well.

The case built against him by the state has shocked the nation with alleged abuse of power by the now infamous pastor.

Harare regional magistrate Hosea Mujaya will have had the task of figuring out whether the case built against Gumbura is compelling enough with accusations of outside forces being behind the charges he faces. Also there is going to be the need to have proof that his sexual intercourse with the women was indeed based on a credible use of force.

Look, Gumbura and his perversions put him in the realms of a disgusting perverted moral degenerate. What he did with those women – urinating in their mouths among other things – and the way he has cult-like hold over his 11 wives is disturbing.

However, rape is something that will be difficult to convict on in this case unless the threat to commit to the devil is agreed upon as being valid. Perhaps the fact that Gumbura happily claimed that certain people died because they had been committed to the devil by him might work against him. Would that threat have resulted in people making choices they otherwise wouldn’t have?

A legal mind said to us this weekend that it would be difficult for a judge to convict on this basis stating that the parameters for rape in this country did not really cover that much. In another country, in the west particularly, a conviction would have been easily gotten but here, it is more complex.

But that is us jumping the gun here. What do you think?

It’s real out there.
