Zimbabwe has increased its fuel by almost 150%.
Diesel will now set you back ZWL62.77 while petrol will be at ZWL71.62. In USD it will be $1.09 and $1.28 respectively. The price of petrol goes up for $1.05.
The increase comes hours after the new Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe foreign currency auction system kicked in and had the ZWL trading officially at 57.35 to the dollar.
To put it into context, the lowest paid civil servant gets ZWL3,000 before deductions. That is about 49litres of diesel.
This is after that 50% increase in salaries.
It is about to get wild.
