Former Chief Justice Chidyausiku dies

Former Zimbabwe Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku has died.

He passed away in a South African hospital.

Chidyausiku had been the judiciary boss until his mandatory retirement on 31 March 2017. The age of retirement is 70.He was succeeded by Luke Malaba

He was a freedom fighter and served as Deputy Minister of Local Government and Housing and of Justice from 1980, and was promoted to be Attorney-General in 1982.

He became Chief Justice in 2001 after the resignation of Athony Gubbay.
