EU Lifts Economic Sanctions On Zimbabwe

The European Union has lifted its 12-year sanctions on Zimbabwe.

NewZimbabwe.com  is reporting that from 2015, it will start a EU234 million 5-year support for  agriculture, health and governance initiatives.

EU ambassador to Zimbabwe Phillip[e Van Damme announced this new development in Harare saying the new dispensation would be  implemented by the weekend.

Harare has long since blamed a lot of economic ills on the sanctions, something the EU has long since denied.

Zimbabwe will need all the help it can get right now. You can see President Robert Mugabe smiling or even feeling a bit smug. The sanctions were meant to force him out of power right?
