Electricity tariffs up by 30%

The Zimbabwe Electricity Distribution and Transmission Company (Zetdc) has announced an increase in tariffs.

The new tariffs are as follows (in USD cents):

  • 0-50 kWh – 2.29
  • 51-100 kWh – 4.51
  • 101-200 kWh – 7.89
  • 201-300 kWh – 11.56
  • 301-400 kWh – 12.94
  • 401 kWh and above – 13.50

These tariffs are for domestic prepayment and are with effect from 26 May 2021.

Zimbabwe says that its tariffs were unattractive for investment in the sector, given how low they were.
