Dry spell coming, don’t plant yet – Met Department

The Meteorological Services Department(MSD) in Zimbabwe has warned of a dry spell coming.

The MSD said it is warning against farmers rushing to plant after the recent short wet spell.#

Speaking to ZBC it said:

We are coming from a wet weekend to a dry week. Please do not plant yet, unless you have the means to irrigate.

October rains are generally erratic for rain-fed agriculture; more effective rains are expected from November into December 2020 in most places.

A particularly wet spell had caused some farmers thinking that the rains in their expectation were upon us.

Zimbabwe is expecting normal to above normal rains this 2020/2021 season.
