A Harare woman has been arrested for spreading falsehoods under provisions of the Cyber Crime laws.
NewsdDay reports that Sandra Mazviita Pamberi is accused of claiming that Adela Construction Company was fetching and selling sewage water.
A Facebook live video of her making such accusations was picked up by some fringe outfits and they ran with it.
Adela denies the allegations and says the water it uses is for construction purposes.
She was charged with contravening section 164(C) of the Cyber Protection and Data Act (2021).

164C Transmission of false data message intending to cause harm
Any person who unlawfully and intentionally by means of a computer or information system makes available, broadcasts or distributes data to any other person concerning an identified or identifiable person knowing it to be false with intend to cause psychological or economic harm shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding level 10 or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years or to both such fine and such imprisonment.
The presumptive penalty is three years.
She is also charged under Section (95) of the e Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23]. This refers to criminal insult and carries a fine not exceeding level six or imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year or both
