

A 38-year-old Chipinge man, John Foroma, has been sentenced to an effective 75 years imprisonment by the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to five counts of rape, two counts of aggravated indecent assault, and one count of robbery, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) has reported.
The harrowing offences were committed on the 3rd of May 2025 in Chief Ngungunyana area.
The offender unlawfully entered the residence where a 13-year-old victim and her siblings slept during the night. He threatened her with violence using a knife and raped her three times.
He proceeded to sexually assault the other two girls aged 9 and 11.
In another count, the offender used violence against a 63 -63-year-old woman to steal her Hisense cell phone. He later sold the cellphone and it was tracked by police, leading to his arrest on the 15th of June 2025.
The offender was sentenced to 15 years for each of the five counts of rape and indecent assault. He was also sentenced to five years for the robbery count.
The sentences run concurrently, resulting in a total effective term of 75 years in prison.
