Chinese leader Xi Jinping has landed in Zimbabwe.
Super big deal as this is the first visit by a president from a super power since, well perhaps since the Queen visited in the 90s. And she is ceremonial.
So we are talking about a visit by one of the most powerful men on earth.
He was met at the Harare International Airport by President Robert Mugabe, his two Vice Presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko as well as other government officials.
Jinping is accompanied by his wife and Chinese government officials.
Jinping’s itinerary includes a visit to the Heroes’ Acre, a signing ceremony with press conference at State House, a tour of Mazowe Childrens’ Home with First lady Dr Grace Mugabe and a state banquet later on.
We are keen as most people to find out what will be signed. Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa has hinted that a few mega deals will have the signatures of of Zimbabwe and China appended to.
