Zimbabwe’s Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Misheck Sibanda has announced retirements and reassignments.
The big story is Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri has started leave pending retirement from 15 December. His deputy Godwin Matanga has been appointed in an acting capacity.
Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander Constantino Chiwenga has been retired pending redeployment (some say to vice president of the republic) and is replaced by Philip Sibanda who becomes a full general.
Retired too are cabinet and Zanu-pf plitburo members Air Chief Marshall Perrance Shiri, Lt General Sibusiso Moyo, Lt General Engelbert Rugeje. The three remain part of the reserve force.
Lt General Absolom Chimonyo becomes Commander of Zimbabwe National Army and Air Marshall of the Airforce of Zimbabwe.
All appointments are with immediate effect.
