Bulawayo lags behind on birth-rate, Mash Central leads – Zimstat

The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat) has announced the birth rate for the population and it sees birth rates for the country.

Bulawayo, which has the lowest population contributed a mere 14,387 live births in the last 12 months. Crude birth rates (the amount of live births per 1,000 in an area) was also low on 21.6.

Compare that with Mashonaland Central, sitting at 32.7 for crude live birth rate and adding 45,240 births. The only crude live birth rate above 30 was Mashonaland West (32.0), adding 60,528 to the population.

Harare contributed the most humans 66,602 to the population even though its live birth rate sat at 27.4.

On the whole, Zimbabwe’s crude birth rate sits at 28.7. The world’s average is 18.1 according to 2021 data.
