13 murders on Boxing Day – Zim Cops

There has been an increase in murders of late in Zimbabwe, local police have said.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Senior Assistant Commissioner said in a statement it in a statement:

Thirteen murder cases were recorded in one day on 26 December, 2018. In most cases, the perpetrators used weapons such as knives, broken bottles or iron bars.

Some of them were based on disputes such as one in Mufakose when a man was stabbed with a broken bottle after having been founding sitting with a female partner at the suspect’s gate. The suspect demanded to know why he was sitting there.

Charamba added:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police continues to urge members of the public to refrain from using dangerous weapons and treasure human life. Seek counselling where there are disputes and do not take the law into your own hands

There has also been an increase in reports of armed robberies resulting in death recently. An 80-year-old woman died after being raped, and robbed of her valuables before being struck with an iron bar in Gwelutshena, Nkayi.
