Don’t try to be our customer if you are poor, illiterate, stupid or can’t calculate 30% – ZimboShopper page torches Facebook storm

An online retailer operating on Facebook, ZimboShopper has torched up a storm after posting this:

And it’s real:

Kindly note, casual requests for quotes won’t be attended to. We charge 30%. If you don’t know how to calculate 30% of anything, we seriously don’t want you as client. Thank you

The post has attracted hundreds of shocked responses…

But no, it doubled down after someone said they did needed to do better:

ZimboShopper Rutendo

ZimboShopper has been in this business since 2013.
Our real clients understand us and appreciate our service.
The challenge we face is when illiterate and poor people message us thus negatively our clients who end up have to wait long hour to be attended to.

So yes madofo nevanotambura ngavatsvage kwekutandarira.
Thank you

As if that was not enough, the Facebook page double down some more saying that it does not deal with those who suffer (vanotambura):

ZimboShopper Marshall

Our customers are actually well-off. We haven’t got any orders from vanotambura, sorry to disappoint you.

And there is a method to the madness, they say:

ZimboShopper Hello Natasha
You know us better, all our clients know what we stand for.
This message is not directed to our valued clients. We are doing business on Facebook and we’re really trying to improve service to our clients by decongesting our inbox.
Unfortunately there’s no easy way to do it.

Oh they want to get rid of ‘certain types’

ZimboShopper Mai  we are trying to eliminate certain types people from page. We don’t exist for those vanotambura, vanoshupika, vasina chokubata vasina chouviri. We are here to serve clients to want and can afford the goods.

And just for control they hankered down later:

To our valued clients we apologize for the delays in responding to your order requests. Unfortunately, we have a sizable number of unemployed people hanging around our inbox asking prices of things they can’t afford…

Even a bad day like this is weird…
