Did Madam Boss just apologise for slaying it at the Star FM Awards?

Popular socialite and comedian Madam Boss has apologised for the way she was dressed for the Star FM Music Awards on Friday after a public backlash.

There was social media backlash with some saying what she was wearing was not appropriate for the occassion.

Now we’re not part of the nanny state and so you will never see us sniffing around looking for outrage over what women should be wearing.

That said, that we get mad because she was wearing a cat suit is a bit rich. We are not having a go at her for apologising. She has reasons. Some of it could be sponsors, trolls, bad advisors or whatever it is.

But we have long complained how the dressing at awards events is just so regular. Yet, some of the trolls gush over South African celebrities and American singers who push the envelope when it comes to dressing, beholden to an ideology of artist expression.

And this is what we must remember about Madam Boss. She is an artist with a right to free expression, conscience and the sort.

What is more, some quarters who claim women should not dress in a certain way are just bell-ends. Of course if a man dressed in a mildly daring way, we would be on some, well, he should be allowed because he is an artist.

But of course, this is a woman and in 2019, they should still sit and beg at the feat of doorknobs who belong to a different time.
