Zimbabwe has tightened its rules on PCR Covid-19 certificates.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa made the announcement after an Inter-Ministerial Covid-task force meeting.
- All persons travelling in, out or transiting Zimbabwe must have a valid PCR negative Covid-19 certificate from a certified local or international laboratory.
- Returning residents will be quarantined if they do not have it.
- Foreigners without will be denied entry if they do not have valid PCR certificates.
- Do not travel to border posts to leave the country without valid PCR negative Covid-19 certificates.
- Congestion measures are being created to create safe zones in border areas. These measures will include the setting up of checkpoints make sure people have the PCR certificates. Those without the certificates will not be allowed to get to the border posts by law enforcement agencies.
- To tackle possible fraud, a list of certified labs is being shared locally, regionally and internationally.
Zimbabwe has been experiencing a sudden rise in Covid-19 cases recently.
