Zimbabwe Takes Part In The 1st Global Forum for Youth Leaders on Drug Use Prevention

Zimbabwe’s Dalumuzi Mhlanga led a delegation which included  one Lead Us Today student from Nkulumane High School, Priviledge Nyathi and one of Lead Us Today’s facilitators, Philip Ndaba to the 1st Global Forum for Youth Leaders-on Drug Use Prevention (GoFORTH) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Forum took place from 11 to 14 February and was organised by Colombo Plan Advisory Programme and the National Rehabilitation Centre.

It was created to address the ever growing risk of drug experimentation, use and abuse among the youth.

Lead Us Today’s participation at the Forum is a means of demonstrating that engaging youth in various initiatives will build a generation of engaged and socially responsible citizens, who will steer away from irresponsible behaviour and adopt positive attitudes and to lead personal and community development efforts.

On his organisation’s taking part in the initiative Mhlanga said:

since our students design and implement projects that impact their communities, we look forward to the innovative solutions to the growing drug abuse among youth. Finally, we hope to be part of the larger network of drug use prevention programs in the world, starting with a formal partnership with organizations such as Colombo Plan.

Lead Us Today is a Zimbabwean non-profit organisation founded on the principles of Diversity, Inspiration and Service in May 2010.
