Want a healthy heart? Eat fish twice a week

So scientists says if you want to have a healthy heart, what you should be doing is eating fish twice a weak.

Consuming fish which are high in Omega-3 fatty acids twice a week can help reduce the risk of heart failure, coronary heart disease, cardiac arrest and ischemic stroke, said a new scientific advisory from the American Heart Association.

Roughly 100 grams per serving should help with the fix with emphasis on eating oily fish like salmon, mackerel, herring, lake trout, sardines or albacore tuna, which are all high in omega-3 fatty acids, researchers said.

Eric B.Rimm, Professor at the Harvard University’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, US:

Scientific studies have established the beneficial effects of eating seafood rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, especially when it replaces less healthy foods such as meats that are high in artery-clogging saturated fat.

The advisory, published in the journal Circulation, was compiled by a panel of nutrition experts, who also reviewed studies about mercury in fish.
