SA moves to adjusted Level 3 lockdown and these are the new conditions

South Africa has moved its alert level for Covid-19 lockdown to level three.

This was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa, in an address to the nation on Sunday evening.

  • Curfew remains at 10pm to 4am
  • Inter-provincial for leisure resumes
  • Bars, restaurants and taverns re-open and close by 9pm
  • Gatherings (including religious and political meetings) allowed and restricted to 50 indoors and 100 outdoors. 50% capacity for small places
  • Attendance at funerals and cremations no more than 50 people. Night vigils and after-tears still not allowed.
  • Sale of alcohol for off-site consumption permitted from Monday to Thursday from 10am to 6pm. On-site consumption as per license conditions until 8pm
  • Schools to reopen Monday 26 July 2021.

Masks are and social distancing remain mandatory.

The new conditions are with immediate effect.
