Daily Covid-19 cases drop by almost half, vaccine demand remains high

Zimbabwe experienced a massive drop in daily Covid-19 case reporting, according to data released on Sunday by the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

The number of cases reported were down to 424 from 801. The infection rate is down to 10.6% down from 17.6%.

Mashonaland West continued to lead the way, with 193 new cases. Seven provinces had less than 40 cases, with Manicaland registering as little as five.

Worryingly, there were only 56 recoveries , pushing active cases to 6,889.

11 deaths were recorded, up from four the day before.

Meanwhile, vaccination demand was high, 8,961 getting the first dose and 16,790 the second. Cumulatively, 756,291 have gotten at least one dosage, while 518.,968 have been fully vaccinated.
