Deaths from Covid-19 crossed the 2,000 mark on Thursday 8 July 2021, according to data provided by the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
With 56 deaths reported on the day, the cumulative total is now 2,029. 31 of those were in Harare alone.
New infections remained high, at 2,156 on the day, bringing the cumulative total to 62,383. With 525 recoveries, active cases sit at 17,499.
The big news is that 29,750 first doses were administered, bringing the cumulative total to 848,808. And with Zimbabwe taking delivery of two million doses on Thursday, there should be an acceleration in how many get jabbed.

As at 08 July 2021, Zimbabwe had 62,383 confirmed cases, including 42,855 recoveries and 2,029 deaths. To date, a total 848 808 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
