Well, it is almost that time of the year when we are like, argh, don’t hug me unless she is really hot and this was the only time she offered you a hug.
Yeah when we get the cold… which by the way many here call the flu when often it is a cold.
Anyway, scientists in Britain may have a found a cure for the common cold.
The challenge in developing a vaccine so far has been because the cold comes with over 100 strains and we normally treat symptoms. So we treat the cough and not the cold.
Imperial College London researchers have gone and ignored the disease itself and instead targeted the human protein that is “hijacked” by all strains of the virus.
So the compound creates a shell around this protein so that the rhinovirus (one of the most common forms of the common cold) cannot access it and multiply.
The cure isn’t quite here because they have to do tests and stuff but soon, you won’t be able to tell your lecturer or boss that you can’t come in because you have a cold.
We will have to find a new disease.
