Vasalgel, a non-hormonal male contraceptive, could be available for safe use in two years.
The injection will be effective for 12 months which could see the elimination of a need for vasectomies a form of birth control.
12 rabbits were injected with Vasalgel and could not impregnate a female for 12 months.
Most importantly there were no physical side effects to the injection.
Human tests begin later this year and everything going well the product will be commercially available by 2018.
Vasalgel is owned by the medical research organisation the Parsemus Foundation.
We can imagine people doing cartwheels over this because they don’t quite fancy getting the snip.
