Robison confirmed as much in a series of tweets saying, “Thanks Amb Perrotta & Dr [Allen] Chiura who #cycledtowork with me today. We talked 🚲lanes, Harare 🌳🌳 & #BuffaloBicycles @PowerofBicycles.

“Looking forward to when cycling, solar power, recycling & doing business in an environmentally friendly way are the norm #TogetherForOurPlanet 🌍.”

Robinson also confirmed they rode home as well, “And home again. The kind of commute I wish I could do more often – riding through this city on a beautiful winter’s day, on my favourite transport.”

The Ambassador, who is passionate about sustainability and climate change issues then added that there were some structural issues to be sorted out for the riding experience.

“We were able to use old cycle lanes about half the way. Like some of my Harare co-residents, I dream of a day when we can all happily get around our cities on rehabilitated and new bike lanes.”

Cycling used to be common in Zimbabwe, but since the introduction of a sedentary lifestyle in some spaces, it has not been as much. Also too, the poor road infrastructure has made it dangerous especially on highways and city where the risk of getting knocked down is real. This is especially so as drivers have become more reckless on the road.
